TOP BENEFITS OF USING IGNITION

Unlimited Licensing Offers Cost Savings & Expense Management Flexibility

Most legacy supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems are license-based, meaning companies purchase individual licenses for each client and project. With Ignition’s unlimited licensing model and server-centric system, utilities can manage expenses while allowing for flexibility and growth. Each member of your team gets access to relevant data and analytics. Plus unlimited project tags and device connections at no additional cost. Ignition also accommodates instant system expansion.

Open Standards Maintain
Consistent Data Communication

In order to extend OT data beyond a central location, IT needs to be involved. Ignition is built on trusted technologies like SQL, Python, OPC UA, and MQTT that both IT and OT understand. These open standards put you in control of your data, and having a Single Source of Truth lets everyone in the organization see the same data.

Cross-Platform Compatibility

Legacy SCADA systems are typically built to be platform-dependent, meaning they can only run on a proprietary operating system. Devices that run different operating systems may not be compatible with the SCADA system. Ignition clients are totally cross-platform: They run on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and with the Ignition Perspective Module, clients can also run on iOS and Android.

Rapid Deployment Strategies

With the use of UDTs (User Defined Types) for data and templates for visuals, Ignition provides numerous strategies for rapid development so that equipment, such as a chemical pump, can be defined once and used across the entire project.

Mobile Capabilities

With Ignition's Perspective Module, you can securely view and control any system from a phone, tablet, control terminal, and other devices.

Industrial-Strength
Security Features

In today’s uncertain environment, your water utility needs SCADA software made with cybersecurity in mind. That’s why Ignition is built on proven, industrial-grade security technology, including highly secure TLS communications, powerful client authentication, easy system auditing and security settings, and location-based security zones.

Architectures That Fit Your Needs

Architectures That Fit Your Needs

This architecture is the most common architecture found in numerous industries. All the functionality of the system is placed on a single server for device connection, tag history, visualization, and more. This is common, for example, in a smaller water treatment plant that has a solid network for connecting to the devices and visualization clients.

Standard

Ignition Edge is a lightweight version of the standard edition of Ignition. It is meant for remote situations, such as a pump station, where the equipment is typically monitored remotely but local controls might be needed for maintenance calls. Ignition Edge provides store-and-forward capabilities up to 35 days and 2 concurrent clients.

Ignition Edge

An enterprise architecture would be used for a system that spans multiple sites and/or remote stations. In this architecture, there might be multiple sites running independently of one another and forwarding their data to a central Ignition gateway for higher level analysis across multiple sites. Ignition Edge and Standard Ignition can be used interchangeably in this system to provide exactly what the project needs at every level.
