Most legacy supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems are license-based, meaning companies purchase individual licenses for each client and project. With the Ignition Perspective Module, visualization clients can also run on iOS and Android.

With UDTs (User Defined Types) for data and templates for visuals, Ignition provides many rapid development strategies so that power, cooling, and IT assets can be defined once across an entire project. UDT instances can be automatically initialized in seconds and UDT definitions can be shared across deployments or pushed down from enterprise to site using strategies such as project inheritance and the Enterprise Administration Module. Support for source control tools like Git allows for library standardization between teams and regions.
