Data Center Supports Continuous Improvement Through
SCADA Synchronization

Vantage Data Centers’ goal was to design and deploy an Ignition Perspective system for data centers across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), used for system control and monitoring, supporting operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

“One of the strongest benefits of Ignition is the inherent flexibility the tool offers for ease of development with the opportunity for functional customization.”

TOP BENEFITS OF USING IGNITION

Unlimited Licensing Offers Cost Savings & Expense Management Flexibility

Most legacy supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems are license-based, meaning companies purchase individual licenses for each client and project. With Ignition’s unlimited licensing model and server-centric system, data centers can manage expenses while allowing for flexibility and growth. Each member of your team gets access to relevant data and analytics. Plus unlimited project tags and device connections at no additional cost. Ignition also accommodates instant system expansion.

Open Standards Maintain Consistent Data Communication

To fully leverage OT data beyond control networks, IT needs to be involved. Ignition is built on trusted technologies like SQL, Python, OPC UA, and MQTT that both IT and OT understand. These open standards put you in control of your data, and having a Single Source of Truth lets everyone in the organization see the same data.

Cross-Platform Compatibility

Legacy SCADA systems are typically built to be platform-dependent, meaning they can only run on a proprietary operating system. Devices that run different operating systems may not be compatible with the SCADA system. Ignition clients are totally cross-platform: They run on Windows, or Linux, including in containers like Docker, and support as-code deployment methods. With the Ignition Perspective Module, visualization clients can also run on iOS and Android.

Rapid Deployment Strategies

With UDTs (User Defined Types) for data and templates for visuals, Ignition provides many rapid development strategies so that power, cooling, and IT assets can be defined once across an entire project. UDT instances can be automatically initialized in seconds and UDT definitions can be shared across deployments or pushed down from enterprise to site using strategies such as project inheritance and the Enterprise Administration Module. Support for source control tools like Git allows for library standardization between teams and regions.

Mobile Capabilities

With Ignition's Perspective Module, you can securely view and control any system from a phone, tablet, control terminal, and other devices.

Industrial-Strength
Security Features

In today’s uncertain environment, your data center needs SCADA software made with cybersecurity in mind. That’s why Ignition is built on proven, industrial-grade security technology, including highly secure TLS communications, powerful client authentication, easy system auditing and security settings, and location-based security zones.

Architectures That Fit Your Needs

Architectures That Fit Your Needs

Ignition’s most common architecture consists of a single on-premise Ignition server (with a redundant server) connected to a SQL database, devices, and clients. Commonly used for standalone container or local zone applications but with the elasticity to support even hyperscale facilities.

Basic With Redundancy

This scale-out architecture links together several Ignition Gateways (with a redundant server) to form a decentralized system. Commonly used for single-site cloud and HPC data center applications, and is especially well-suited to phased construction or where data halls in a single site may have different tenants.

Scale-Out With Redundancy

This scale-out architecture links together several Ignition Gateways to form a decentralized system (with a load balancer for high availability at the frontend). A great solution for campus or regional applications, especially when 100+ active client sessions may be required simultaneously.

Scale-Out With Load Balancer

With the Ignition enterprise architecture, you can send data from independent local sites and remote sites up to a centralized corporate site and to cloud services (with a redundant server). This allows you to consolidate data from various sites and regions onto a platform with global scope.

Enterprise With Redundancy

The Ignition cloud hybrid architecture adds high availability and IoT to a hub-and-spoke infrastructure. This brings elasticity to your operations so you can run Ignition in the cloud, easily add data storage, instantly scale up or down, and integrate with cloud tools like analytics across enterprises.
